I spent the past few days at Dreamforce along with another 150,000 other people from around the world. I met a lot of wonderful people and had some great conversations. In fact I was able to finally meet some people in person that I have been connected to on Twitter for quite some time.
It’s amazing how these social and digital technologies are impacting the way we communicate. When I talk about being social Im referring to using social and digital technologies in two different environments.
The first is externally on public facing social channels such as Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, etc. These platforms are a great way to build thought leadership and a personal brand for yourself. However, oftentimes we overlook using internal social and collaboration technologies to build credibility and thought leadership within our organisations.
I always tell people I meet that using internal social networks and platforms is the best thing you can do for your career because you achieve a level of visibility in front of your peers and managers that would never otherwise be possible. In this latest episode of the #futurein5 I explore why being social is so important. You can subscribe to the YouTube channel for more videos if interested.
