Afterschool Centre for Career Development is a capacity development organization committed to assisting young persons in transitional stages of their lives set goals and walks them through the achievement of such goals. The centre provides growth opportunities and self as well as career development interventions for and with young people enabling them transit seamlessly from school to work.
As part of its objectives to providing learning and mentoring opportunities for people in Nigeria, Afterschool Centre for Career Development is pleased the launch UNWANA- The National Solar Jobs Project. The project which is part of its Green Jobs programme is aimed at creating awareness, catalysing market demand and training skilled solar engineers and entrepreneurs to provide after sales services thereby improving the uptake of solar energy solutions and greatly decreasing dependency on fossil fuel. Beyond the training component the project is also providing Start up investment loans to the solar engineers and entrepreneurs up to One Million Naira only to its trainees.
The project is also aimed to catalyse the entry, sustenance and expansion of solar energy engineers and entrepreneurs in Nigeria especially in improving the performance of SMEs and micro entrepreneurs which promotes poverty reduction through generation of employment opportunities via the creation of new green jobs in the economy. In addition, it explores the potential of solar energy alternative in boosting the performance of SMEs and small industries and improving livelihoods of the poor in rural areas. The project has significant potential of widespread acceptance by consumers with extensive social, economic and financial impacts.
Delivered in Partnership with The ASteven Group and Verge Development Solutions the Solar Jobs Project is calling on young people interested in the Renewable energy sector to apply for its Solar Engineering Training programme billed for November 2018. The training curriculum covers Solar Systems design and engineering, Solar systems installation, Device fabrication and characterization, QA and reliability testing, Project management and consultancy as well as product sales. The Solar Engineering Training is billed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue a career in the solar energy field and become a successful solar energy entrepreneurs and engineers. This program will focus on the entire value chain of the solar energy industry preparing attendees for self and corporate employment .
