Afterschool Centre for Career Development is a capacity development organization committed to assisting young persons in transitional stages of their lives set goals and walks them through the achievement of such goals. We provide growth opportunities and self as well as career development interventions for and with young people enabling them transit seamlessly from school to work.
As part of its objectives to proving learning and growth opportunities for young people in Nigeria, Afterschool Centre for Career Development is partneringhosting a Girls Technology Tour in 15 States in Nigeria.
The Girls Technology Tour in Calabar which was kicked off in March 2017 as part of the International Women’s Day activities is aimed at improving the digital skills of young girls in Nigeria by introducing young Girls to Careers in Technologyand engagement in Digital Communications and Technology through up skilling and mentoring them.The Girls’ Tech Tour also introduces young girls to professional women who work and excel within technology and science-related careers, with possibilities of mentoring relationships.
The Girls Technology Tour in Calabar took place from March 15th-17that Government Secondary School, Anantigha and Government Technical School, Mayne Avenue. The Girls Tech Tour featured video show segments from Intel and Girls Who Code, as well as a talk session from Technology Ambassador, Praise David-Oku, a member of Team Charis, winner of the 2015 Global Technovation Challenge. Her journey into the Digital and Technology sector was a form of motivation and encouragement for the young girls, who prior to this event thought the feat impossible.

Beyond providing direct services Afterschool Centre for Career Development provides a springboard for Stakeholder collaboration and thought leadership on issues regarding holistic education including career counseling, employment and youth transitions programming. Some initiatives under our thought leadership portfolio include; The Career Counsellors Coalition and the School to Work Transitions in Africa Initiative.
