Afterschool Centre for Career Development (Formerly known as Afterschool Peer Mentoring Project) is a capacity development organization committed to assisting young persons in transitional stages of their lives set goals and walks them through the achievement of such goals. The Project provides growth opportunities and self as well as career development interventions for and with young people enabling them transit seamlessly from school to work.
As part of its objectives to proving learning and growth opportunities for young people in Nigeria, Afterschool Centre for Career Development is hosting the Andela’s Android Learning Community Bi-Weekly Meet-Ups, the first ever of its kind in Calabar.
The Andela’s Android Learning Community (ALC) is a way to kick-start interested candidate’s journey as a Beginner or an Intermediate Android Developer through a powerful partnership with top tech companies such as Udacity and Google that have made Android Development courses available to Nigerian youths.
The Andela Android Learning Community program consists of 2 independent tracks. The Beginners track is for participants with little or no prior programming experience but must at least have a Laptop, smart phone and also must ready to commit more than 10 hours per week to learn how to develop Android Apps. There is also the intermediate track which is for people who are not new to Android Apps development and must have at least 1-2 years prior Android development experience, a good smart phone and Laptop and must also be ready to commit than 10 hours per week to advance their skills on Android Apps development.
The tracks will be driven primarily by self learning, but will be supported by community group meet-ups (digital and physical). Andela also goes a step further in partnering with tech hubs, working spaces and Universities across the country to enhance participant’s learning experience.
