ACCD and U.S. Consulate General,Lagos launch Student Enterprise and Employability
Project (SEEP)-Media Release

Afterschool Centre for Career Development is a capacity development organization committed to
assisting young persons in transitional stages of their lives set goals and walks them through the
achievement of such goals. The centre provides growth opportunities and self as well as career
development interventions for and with young people enabling them transit seamlessly from school to
work.
As part of its objectives of providing learning and mentoring opportunities for young people in Nigeria,
Afterschool Centre for Career Development is pleased to announce the launch of its Student Enterprise
Employability Project (SEEP) with support from the United States Consulate General, Lagos.
The project is an employability and enterprise development accelerator programme for Students aimed
at developing their career and enterprise skills for self and corporate employment. The program will
train, launch, incubate and invest in student start-ups each year and organize industry based networking
forums and Mentoring scheme for student entrepreneurs.
Developed as a spin off from ACCD’s existing Workplace Training for Undergraduates (WTU) which
trains and matches undergraduates to jobs and internships opportunities in Cross State and beyond. The
Student Enterprise and Employability Programme (SEEP) is focused on charging the narrative for
Nigerian students by training, financing and incubating high growth potential student –led businesses.
On the annual basis, Nigerian tertiary institutions graduate 1.8 Million young people in a Country with
a 27% National Unemployment rate, Entrepreneurship especially Student Entrepreneurship is the one
of surest ways of transforming the livelihoods and future of young people.

career counseling, employment and youth transitions programming. Some initiatives under our thought

Africa Initiative.
